antique vintage woodworking tools

if i had a woman i could get in so much troubleright now it aint even funny. hello and welcome to donald vlogsifys woodshop.in this episode i'm going to show you how i cleaned up this plane.i've watched afew videos and i took some hints from those. from pail sellers and a few other people onhere, i had to improvise a little bitgiven whati had on hand.because i'm impatient and refuse

antique vintage woodworking tools, to wait until payday.i'm just showing youhow i did it and the process of me doing it. i don't recommend you do nessicerily do itthe way i do it.i had this plane and i thought it was an old beater plane, i was going topractice on it...actually it turned out to be a pretty good plane.after i got it cleanedup and everything.

what i'm saying is, it worked for me, butit may not necessarily always work. i may have just gotten lucky. so, please if you'retempted to try this, please look around at other videos and try and do it the properway. not necessarily the way i did it. i'm a redneck, and do things goofy ways. and ifyou jack up a good plane i am not responsible. i cannot be held liable. lol so anyway, let'sget too it. again i don't recommend doing it the way i did it. it just happened to workfor me. you can see it's in fairly rough shape.i'mgoing to do the best i can with it. (music)i sprayed it down with... some... can i say wd 40 on youtube? i don'tknow.. anyway... wd 40.and i'm using some

fine wet dry sandpaper to knock off some ofthe rust. it's pitted real bad there i don't think i'm going to try and sand down intoit. and now i'm just going to let them parts marinate(soak) in wd40 for a little while. for now i think i'm just going to sand thesedown a little bit, not much, and put a coat of mineral oil on them. for the time being,i may have to make some more. it's kinda dry. i left the sand paper over there! ayyeee...(music) well it has marinated, ( soaked) in the wd40.for a few hours.let's see what it does. i'm going to show you the blade. doesn't lookmuch better yet. but we gonna sand it down with some more fine sand paper and a littlebit more oil. in fact i'm going to put some

news paper down here.... cause i aint likinthe idea of getting that oil all on my uhhhh....thing ma dobber thar... my work surface. cause everytimei go to use it it, it'll get on my wood.i don't know if you can tell or not, but i beenin the caffeine. whooooo hooo been in the caffeine. cause know i just been in the caffeine.because i like the caffeine i enjoy the caffeine i really do enjoy caffeine. caffeine makesme work, caffeine keeps me up. caffeine makes me go. caffeine caffeine caffeine... i lovethe caffeine. now again..... this is probably not the properway to do this. but.. at the moment, this is what i got.there i think that's the best i can do with this without doing more damage than i am good.i don't want to take too much off there.old

bevel... still sharp as a buggar! but we gonnasharpen it up a litt;e bit before i clean it up and do what else i'm gonna do to it.let'ssee what we can do with that! again.... this is my experiment on an oldplane. i do not recommend any of this for a new one... i do not recommend what i'm doingat all. or endorse it. cause... i'm experimenting. there's the iron. or blade... whatever youwanna call it. and then there's the chipbreaker. and.. there's still some pitting from therust on here. but i don't want to go no deeper or sand no more on that. because... i couldbe wrong but.... a tool is built with certain measurements and the more of that measurementfrom it's parts that you take away... the more you gonna affect the way it functions.just my opinion.

( music)now... i remove some of the uhhh uhhhh wax. (music)
